code for sustainable homes assessments

Detailed assessments are collated by a Code for Sustainable Homes Licencsed Assessor and submitted to BRE (Building Research Establishment) or Stroma for approval.

The assessment is based on a credit system and can be submitted at the Design Stage for interim certification and/or at Post Construction Stage for full certification.  It is strongly recommended that assessments commence at design stage, as alterations to meet the code post planning can be expensive and difficult to achieve.

cost of the code

Costs for Code for Sustainable Homes assessments will vary depending on the size of the project, the code level required, the design team's understanding of the Code, the stage at which an assessor is appointed and whether detailed advice on achieving a code level is required.  A standard design audit assessment should cost around £500, whereas, more complex assessments will be considerably higher.

There are also cost implications to building to Code level standards, particularly in reaching higher levels of the code.  Quality advice from the assessor is paramount to develop the most cost effective credit strategy.

The consultancy has first hand experience in both assessing and building Level 5 homes, and has a unique understanding of code costings.
